“We’re here with Michelle today because we’re celebrating her hitting her weight loss goal. Hi, Michelle. Hey Susie. So tell me, how much have you lost in total now? 17.6kg. Absolutely fantastic. And just in a little summary, how are you feeling? Amazing. Given me a new lease on life.
In one word. There you go. Amazing. Fantastic. So we’ve talked about this a little bit through your coaching, but can you just explain to people watching, when were you last at this weight you’re at now? 16 years ago, after I had my last child. Yes. Right. Okay. You’ve said you’ve had you’ve got your clothes that you’ve been able to fit back into from back then, which is pretty exciting.
Yes. Jeans. Yes. Shorts, things like that. So it’s lovely to feel good within your own skin again. Yeah. Fantastic. Great. Awesome. All right. So just I have a couple of questions for you. If you can cast your mind back to before, when we met and you started the programme. Can you tell us a bit about what you were doing for your weight loss and your health, and how you were feeling?
Initially, I had tried quite a few diets trying to do things myself, upping my exercise, but, nothing was working. I was actually putting on weight, not losing weight. It was a real struggle. It was quite, depressing trying all these things. Being very cautious with what I ate. And the scales, weren’t showing it.
If anything, it was going in the opposite direction. Yeah. It was so awful. I remember when we first met, I just felt so, just really felt for you because, you know, you were doing everything that you thought was right, you know, and trying so hard. So then did you have any fears or doubts about trying Dietflex in that sort of environment?
I think you always have those fears and doubts: Is this going to fail? Is it not going to work for me?
I’ve tried things before and they haven’t worked so why is this going to be anything different? I think I just put my trust in Dietflex and their system. And fingers crossed and hope for the best because I was at a point where I was ready to take a plunge and give it another go, and in that right frame of mind, I think is totally important. Yeah. Absolutely. And just on that actually because I think that’s a big thing for a lot of women. Just getting yourself into that right frame of mind. Do you have any tips for anyone about what you did or was it just timing, was it just life circumstance, or did you do anything to get yourself into that mind frame?
I think being at the stage in life I’m at and women know what that stage is. That we all go through as we get older. I think it was quite upsetting to think that you’ve tried everything that you could possibly do, and hoping that this would be the answer for me. And obviously it was. Support from your family and friends is vitally important, to help you, to edge you on and to keep going.
Yeah. Fantastic. Yeah. And you’ve definitely had that with what you’ve shared with me, with, your husband and your two kids supporting you and cheering you on and me in the background as well, nagging you. That’s it.
All right. So just with that in mind, can you tell us a little bit more about how the Dietflex program has been for you? Like what’s your experience? What did you maybe struggle with? What did you find easy. Anything you have to share?
At the beginning it was it was the frame of mind. Okay, I’m going to give this a go. If I’m going to do it, I’m going to be all in or I’m not in at all. So yes, it is, I’ll say, restrictive to start with, but there’s a reasoning behind that. Even now that I’ve hit my goal weight, I’m still doing things that I would have done back in Phase two. I’m not missing bread. I’m not missing all those heavy carbs.
I’m finding alternatives in every day and thinking to myself, do I want it or do I need it? That’s the biggest question I ask myself. Do I want it or do I need it? Can I substitute it with something else so I don’t go back to old habits again? Yeah. Fantastic. And now that you’ve getting into that maintenance phase, it’s working out: ‘Well, I can have a little bit of that, or I can have a little bit of that. And then I just pull myself back. So that’s it. ‘Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Which is brilliant because that’s the kind of knowledge that is unique to you, that you can only learn by experimenting yourself with the within the program and with those, the framework of that carb sort of.
Yes. Build up. And so now, you know, which is great. That’s right. I mean, you’ll, you’ll have your highs and lows, but it’s just going okay: how badly do you want it? And once you start to get that feeling of, you know, going back to what you want to be again, I think that in itself pushes you along.
Yeah. Great. And actually, just mentioning those highs and lows, I’ve just got a little something to share. This is your actual graph. For those who graph people, I am obviously, this is the representation of your weight loss journey. So you talked about highs and lows. Can you share with me maybe on some of those ups and downs, how did the coaching sort of keep you on track or assist in that regard? I suppose it was an education around why has that gone up and and just educating yourself like I found that and I still do at the moment, find that if I don’t get enough sleep that affects my weight loss.
It’s just not the food, it’s that psychological, it’s that’s the, sleep, rest, things like that. They all go hand in hand for me. That might not be for everybody, but that’s for me. The peak down the bottom was I went overseas for a month, and I enjoyed myself. Absolutely. And honestly, that’s a weight loss journey, isn’t it? You have life still happen, and you want to enjoy yourself.
Yes. You able to get back on track, get back into it. That’s it. And then I just had that end mark in mind, and eventually got there. There was some days you think, ‘Am I’m going to get there or not?’ ‘Is it out of my reach?’ But perseverance. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And you’ve absolutely to be congratulated for that and for the effort you’ve made.
And I’m just so happy for you that you found what works for you. You know. Highly recommend it. What a relief. What a relief. It is a huge relief. I didn’t think that I would be able to get back to what I was 16 years ago. And pre-baby body. Yeah. Pre-baby body. And feel happy within myself again. I think that’s the biggest thing I think you’ve got to, to be successful, you’ve got to do it for yourself.
Definitely. Absolutely. Yeah. And so like you said, getting back into that mindset where you’re ready to go, this is what I want to do. Yeah. And I think that weekly coaching helps to it keeps you on track. It makes you accountable. Yeah. And also did you how did you find writing in the the planner each week.
Was that helpful to you. It was helpful but it was also like oh I, I do my planner. There’s a reason behind that. That’s right. And like you said, like, you know, you’re tracking your sleep and you’re tracking other things as well. So it’s not just the food. So then you can see patterns of things, which is you know what is so beneficial because yeah, otherwise you just guessing, which is not very helpful.
No there’s no science behind guessing. No, that’s it. So can you share what’s the most outstanding thing you’ve learnt about yourself during the Dietflex program?
That I’m… You need to put yourself first. Yeah. You got to prioritise your health. Not only your physical health, but also your mental health too. And that if you’re not good within yourself, then you’re not good for other people. Yeah. Yeah. That’s it. Yeah. And, you know, a lot of us are very busy mums, wives. This day and age of being a very fast paced life, sometimes we just need to slow down and smell the roses and do something for yourself.
Put yourself first. Yeah. And, you know, like yourself working full time, two teenage girls, family life, everything. And you do so well to to keep it on track and to have made that sort of take back that time from that schedule for yourself to get things right and to hit this goal and to feel the way that you do.
So Yay, Michelle. Thank you to dietflex. So and this is one last thing. Is there anything in particular that you would say to someone who was thinking about starting the dietflex program?
Give it a go. Like you’ve got nothing to lose. The support, the science behind it. I feel it’s been well researched. It’s achievable. But you’ve got to be committed. Yes. Fantastic. That’s it. It’s a partnership, isn’t it? So it is very much a partnership and a relationship that you form also with your coach.
Yeah. You know, you’re not on your own, which that’s it thing as well. That’s it. Right. Yeah. Very good. All right. Michelle, I’m super happy for you. And I mean, now you’ve got because you also managed to achieve the losing nine more than nine kilos in the first six weeks. You’ve got you next six weeks free. So that’s another amazing achievement.
So we’re celebrating that as well. So just thank you for, chatting with us, Michelle. And I’m looking forward to continuing to coach you through your maintenance and make sure that you’re really set up for the rest of your life with maintaining your weight and being as happy and healthy and as comfortable in your skin as you can be.
Definitely, confidence is back. Fantastic. Thanks, Michelle.”
